Lot Essay

This rare model of pedestal desk by François Linke is recorded in the Linke archive as Index Number 711 with the Linke title ‘Bureau Lxv â 8 pieds’. To the backboard of the kneehole it features Linke’s signature ‘crab’ shaped clasp: a water-spilling coquille surrounded by acanthus leaves. Please see Lot 13 for a note on François Linke.
