The clock with white enamel dial mounted in an urn and foliate decorated support, the soapstone base set with three hardstone mounted buttons, the dial marked SWISS, the underside marked E.DREIFOUS FRANCE, the tooled leather fitted case marked SPECIAL MAKER TO THE KING AND QUEEN OF ENGLAND DREYFOUS 582 FIFTH AVENUE PARIS AND LONDON

Lot Essay

Pamela Harriman, daughter of Edward Digby, 11th Baron Digby, married Major Randolph Churchill MBE (1911-1968), son of Sir Winston Churchill KG (1874-1965), in 1939; the couple had one child, Winston Spencer Churchill (1940-2010), before divorcing in 1945.
