A FRENCH SILVER JARDINIERE
MARK OF LOUIS AUCOC, PARIS, LATE 19TH CENTURY, WITH ENGLISH IMPORT MARKS FOR CHARLES WILLIAM SHAPLAND, LONDON, 1895
Shaped oval and on four angular scroll feet, the sides with openwork foliage scrolls between ribbon-tied reeded and beaded borders, with two scroll handles, each side with a detachable foliage cartouche with an engraved coat-of-arms, the plated liner with two fruiting finials, marked underneath and on cartouches, further marked underneath and on cartouches with English import marks
25 in. (63 cm.) wide
weight of silver 166 oz 6 dwt. (5,174 gr.)
The arms are those of Petre as borne by the Barons Petre of Writtle Park and Ingatestone Hall, Essex.
