Lot Essay

Henri-Emile Allouard (d.1929), painter and sculptor, was a regular exhibitor at he Salon between 1865 and 1928. He studied under Lequesne and Schoenewerk and his sculptural oeuvre included the use of a variety of materials from terracotta, bronze and marble to ivory and precious metals. He exhibited his works widely, including the Universal Exhibitions of 1889 and 1900, winning a gold medal in the latter.
