Oval, the cover piqué-posé with central shell shaped panel, the flutes alternately engraved with scrolls and masks with gold chevron panels between, within applied diamond frame decorated with rose-cut swags and single stones and outer mother-of-pearl band with mask, shells, scrolls and baskets of foliage at intervals with plain sides and tortoiseshell base, the interior cover set with a miniature of a lady seated at a table in loose white robe baring her left breast, holding a green parrot on her left arm, a black page standing behind her; pillar and draped red curtain background (Italian School, circa 1720)
