Oval and on four foliage capped lion's paw feet, the sides pierced and engraved with foliage scrolls, flowers and wheat sheafs, with a foliage scroll border, applied at the ends with masks, with a swing handle, engraved with a coat-of-arms, marked underneath and on handle

The arms are those of Trollope, quartering Harpyn, Hawick and Clobery with Middleston in pretence, for Sir Thomas Trollope, 4th Bt. (1691-1784) and his Diana, daughter and co-heir of Thomas Middleton of Stanstead, Essex whom he married in c.1721. The novelist Anthony Trollope (1815-1882) was Sir Thomas' great-grandson.
