The circular top with waived edge, above a fluted and foliate-carved baluster shaft, on cabriole legs carved with foliage and cabochons at the knees, on scrolled feet, the platform under the top later and therefore the top possibly associated

Lot Essay

Alfred Stern was almost certainly a collector in the 1920s and 1930s. In the 1960 sale at Christie's referred to above, several of the lots from his collection had been illustrated in the various volumes of Old English Furniture and Works of Art, produced by Moss Harris and Sons in the 1920s.
