A George III oak longcase clock, last quarter 18th century
The case with arched top to the hood above a moulded cornice, pilasters to the front angles, with rectangular trunk door and on stepped plinth, the 12in. square cut-away brass dial with mask and foliate spandrels to a brass chapter ring signed Lancaster B.d Castle, matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring (later hand) and date aperture, with cut steel hands, the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement -- 86in. (219cm.) high
