A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF BUDDHA
MONGOLIA, ZANAZABAR SCHOOL, 18TH CENTURY
The figure is cast seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base with beaded rims. He is depicted wearing a sanghati with incised borders and holding an alms bowl. His face is cold-painted with gilt, red and blue pigments, with a serene expression centred by an urna. His tightly coiled hair rises over the usnisa and is topped by a finial.
