Tibet, 15th Century
Seated on a slightly domed double-lotus base with his hands in the teaching gesture, flanked by his attributes of the sword and manuscript supported by lotus flowers at his shoulders, wearing a diaphanous dhoti with elaborate beaded borders, beaded necklaces and armlets, his face with a benign expression surmounted by a foliate tiara, richly gilt overall, the back of the base with red lacquer
