The Lotus-Born Guru seated atop an elaborate double-lotus base, wielding a vajra in his right hand and skullcup in left, a khatvanga resting against his left shoulder, a blossoming lotus at his right shoulder, his voluminous robes incised with foliate scroll designs, his face with wide-open eyes and delicate lips, flanked by elongated ears with large rounded earrings, and wearing a headdress with upturned sides and centered with a crescent moon and sun

Padmasambhava is believed to be one of the principal teachers to bring Buddhism to Tibet in the 8th century. He is depicted in numerous forms which represent outer, inner and secret aspects of his spiritual being. He is also known by many different names which generally follow the chronology of his life story.
