A gilt copper repousse figure of Maitreya
Tibet, 17th/18th century
Seated in dhyanasana with his hands held in dharmachakramudra before his chest, his palms and soles incised lotuses, dressed in a dhoti with the fold held elegantly below his ankles, adorned with a sash incised with a foliate pattern and a torq centered with a kirttimukha and two naginis, the face with serene expression and the hair arranged in tight curls at the front and rising to a conical chignon
