A closely related enamelled parrot dated to the 19th century is in the National Museum in New Delhi (Rita Devi Sharma and M. Varadarajan, Handcrafted Indian Enamel Jewellery, New Delhi, 2008, p.70). Like ours, the New Delhi parrot has very fine regular strapwork underneath the enamel enriching the surface of the birds. An exceptionally large enamelled and gem-set parrot was sold in Christie's, London, 5 October 2010, lot 50. Another 19th century example of comparable size was sold in Christie's, London, 23 September 2005, lot 131.
