It is rare to find a sculpture of the demon-slaying goddess from the pre-Angkor period, especially in such a collectible size. Compare with a slightly smaller figure from the Collection of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Rockefeller 3rd, dated a century later, and now at Asia Society, New York (illustrated below). The Rockefeller figure has a striated dhoti, while the present example has a smooth garment, focusing the attention on the body, and emphasizing the gently rounded breasts and supply belly.
