A GREEK ALABSTER KALYX BOWL AND "FISH PLATE"
CLASSICAL PERIOD, CIRCA MID 4TH CENTURY B.C.
The shallow kalyx bowl thin walled, with a concave neck and flaring rim, the join of the neck to the bowl delineated by two shallow raised bands; the "fish-plate" on a low-foot enclosing a profiled molding, with an overhanging rim and sloping floor, a large circular depression at the center encircled by a single groove, the outer edge of the floor with two incised grooves
