拍品专文

The iconic form of this helmet is typical for the Archaic period. Hammered from a single heavy sheet, it was designed to fully cover the warrior's head. It has a continuous curving profile, characteristic almond-shaped eye-openings, an elongated nose-guard rounded at its tip, integral cheek-pieces divided by a vertical gap and a flaring neck-guard. For closely-related examples, see nos. 26 and 27 in A. Bottini, et al., eds., Antike Helme.
