A GREEK BRONZE PILOS HELMET
SOUTH ITALY, CIRCA 4TH CENTURY B.C.
Formed of thick hammered sheet, conical in form, with a broad rim offset by raised borders, perforated at the crown for insertion of a separately-made crest and horns, with two perforations on each side for now-missing cheek-pieces, the front centered by a circular appliqué in the form of a facing gorgoneion
