Stanislav Lami was born in Paris in 1858, and made his debut as a sculptor at the 1882 salon. In 1900 he was awarded the medal of the Légion d'Honneur. He published two dictionaries, the 'Dictionnaire des sculpteurs de l'antiquité jusqu'au VIìeme siècle de notre ère' and a 'Dictionnaire des sculpteurs de l'ecole Française du moyen age au règne de Louis XIV.' His Chien Danois can be seen in the Musée de la Ville de Paris.
