Lot Essay

The fourth manuscript page is an enlargement of part of a cosmological map, most likely depicting Mount Meru at left and a body of water at right. Mount Meru is the center of madhyaloka, the middle world where animals and humans reside, and the final plane of existence in samsara. These geographical features are depicted as simple geometric forms when in this small format.
