A GROUP OF NORTH-WEST PERSIAN BRONZE SWORDS, SPEAR BUTTS AND BLADES

Comprising a bronze dagger with short blade of leaf shape with incised central grooves, the hollow-cast hilt with gently curved guard and ovoid pommel decorated in relief with bosses and ridged lines, 8½ in. (21.5 cm.) long; four flange-hilted swords all with hilt and blade cast in one piece and with crescentic pommels, 15¾ in. (40 cm.) long max.; three square-sectioned bronze spear-butts, each with cylindrical pierced socket, one with raised stud decoration, another with ridged decoration to socket and the third with incised linear and zigzag pattern, 11½ in. (29.3 cm.) long max.; three dagger blades all with pierced tangs; and two modern blades, one with green hardstone hilt, 8 1/8 in. (20.5 cm.) long max. (13)
