Dagger silhouettes cut from sheet metal would have been put in tombs as a substitute for the real life-size weapon. Cf. P. R. S. Moorey, Catalogue of the Ancient Persian Bronzes in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 1971, p. 69, pl. 5, no. 44 for similar.
