PROBABLY TRANSYLVANIA, EARLY 17TH CENTURY
Hexafoil, on a waisted lobed base with alternating lobes chased with masks, the waisted lobed cup with similar decoration on the lower body, the upper body with lobes chased and repoussé with grotesque masks alternating with lobes engraved with scrolls and pendant foliage, the conforming cover with similar lobes and surmounted by a tall fluted dome with a double ball finial, one side of body engraved with a coat-of-arms under a coronet and block initials VB, apparently unmarked
