A Japanese Arita blue and white five-piece garniture
Late 17th Century
Comprising three octagonal baluster jars and covers and two beaker vases, painted each with a continuous scene of two ho-o birds among flowering peony and chrysanthemum, below shaped panels of dragons alternating with karashishi around the shoulder, the domed cover surmounted with knop finials, two knop finials repaired, some cracks
the jars 49 cm.; the beakers 31.7 cm. high (5)
