A LARGE BLUE AND WHITE 'DRAGON' DISH AND A LARGE WUCAI 'DRAGON AND PHOENIX' DISH
KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARKS IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1662-1722)
The interior of the blue and white dish is decorated in the center with two confronted dragons leaping amidst flames and clouds as they each grasp a flaming pearl below further dragons pursuing flaming pearls in the well. The exterior is similarly decorated above a band of petal lappets, all reserved on the underglaze-blue ground. The wucai dish is decorated in the interior with a pair of five-clawed dragons and a pair of phoenixes amidst scrolling, leafy floral stems, the design is repeated in the well and on the exterior, all within double blue-line borders.
14½ and 12¾ in. (36.8 and 32.5 cm.) diam.
