Gold on black cardboard, the panel arranged in four cartouches with a quatrain in nasta'liq script between gold rules, signed and dated in the lower left hand panel, three repaired tears, otherwise in good condition, laid down on modern cardboard together with a large calligraphic panel in black ghubari script forming an inscription in large nasta'liq script, between black rules, mounted

Lot Essay

'Ali Rasim al-Andaruni studied calligraphy under his father Mehmed Rushdi Efendi. He was the calligraphy tutor at the Enderun School and at the Dar al-Mu'allimat in Istanbul. He was particularly celebrated for his mastery enlarged inscriptions.
