A LARGE DAUNIAN WARE POTTERY OLLA OR STORAGE JAR, the body of rounded form, with two vertical horned loop handles on the shoulder, at either side a projecting stylized head of a deer, with applied circular eyes, applied circles with star motif below the horns, the body decorated with encircling painted bands of dark brown and ochre, panels of hatched diamond motifs around the shoulder, semicircles and further bands around the wide flaring rim with rays from the centre, rim repaired -- 12¾ in. (32.4 cm.) high, circa 6th Century B.C.
