Comprising a palanquin accompanied by five figures on horseback and twenty-one attendants and musicians, glazed in green and brown and with painted details; together with a large shrine containing a seated Buddha, and an altar laden with tribute and surrounded by furnishings, all glazed in green, amber and cream

Lot Essay

A similar procession was included in the exhibition, Treasures from the Shanghai Museum: 6000 Years of Chinese Art, Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, 4 May - 30 September 1983, no. 115.
