Francisque-Edouard Bertier is recorded as a member of the Société des Artistes Français, obtaining an honourable mention for his work in 1879. He was trained in the Cabanel studios and is known for his paintings of harem women.

A group of plaques created in the same manner and attributed to Emile Delforge, Theodore Leroy and Lamy were sold in the Mr and Mrs Marvin Greenfield Collection, Christie's, New York, 20 October 2008, lots 122-125. Both Delforge and Leroy were much praised for their creation of this technique, winning gold medals for their work. For another vase signed V. Peccatte, see Christie's, New York, 29 March 2000, lot 16.
