A late 19th century sapphire and diamond brooch
Modelled as a spider, the body set with a cushion-shaped sapphire within a pavé old-cut diamond surround to a sapphire and diamond three-stone head with cabochon ruby eyes, between eight rose-cut diamond legs, mounted in silver and gold, circa 1880, detachable brooch fitting, fitted case, 4.0cm long
Accompanied by a report from The Gem & Pearl Laboratory stating that the sapphire was found to be natural with no evidence of heat treatment observed.
