This chaise can be attributed to the celebrated menuisier Georges Jacob based on the unusually shaped rails of the inside of the seatrail which is a particular leit motif of his oeuvre.

Please note this chair has a partially effaced brand ‘G…’, along with a further cypher, possibly a crown. A closely related fauteuil de toilette with the same distinctive leaf carving to the arms as on the legs of this chaise was supplied circa 1770 to Madame du Barry for the Petit Trianon.
