The circular white enamel dial with Roman chapters and Arabic minutes, inscribed 'Bailly À Paris', the movement contained within a cartouche-shaped case cast with volutes, floral branches and putti, the movement altered, probably in the 19th century, mounted with an engraved label reading 'PROPERTY OF / METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART / IN THE CITY OF NEW YORK / SUBJECT TO THE LIFE ESTATE OF / OGDEN L. MILLS / UNDER ARTICLES 2ND AND 4TH OF THE / WILL OF OGDEN MILLS'
