A LOUIS XVI BRASS-MOUNTED MAHOGANY AND FRUITWOOD TWO-TIER GUERIDON
The pierced galleried circular grey-veined white marble uppertier above a fluted columnar shaft and larger further tier, supported by a fluted turned spreading column and on a channelled hipped downswept tripod base with pointed pad feet and castors, restorations, the marble of the larger tier replaced, inscribed in pencil 'DROUOT'

Lot Essay

This guéridon with its stepped cabriole legs and plain use of mahogany, relates to the work of Canabas, maître in 1766, such as a small tripod table illustrated in P. Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Français du XVIIIe Siècle, Paris, 1989, p. 145, fig. D. A further related guéridon was sold anonymously in these Rooms, 7 December 1995, lot 84.
