Oval tortoiseshell-lined box, the cover sides and base lacquered en grisaille with putti, the hinged cover depicting the love of music, the base depicting the love of wine, the sides painted with putti entwined in rose swags, reeded gold mounts, slightly raised incorporated thumbpiece, the flange inscribed 'Belonged to Adelaide Countess Spencer'
