This canape was originally en suite with a pair of matching bergères in a private collection in Normandy which are stamped by Sené. A related canape with similar ribbon-tied floral wreath to the center of the crest-rail, stamped twice JBB DEMAY and part of a large suite of seat-furniture previously in the collection of the Marquise de Ganay was sold anonymously, Christie's New York, 23 October 1998, lot 167 ($50,000 plus premium).
