With three-quarter gallery and carrara marble top above three frieze drawers, on ring-turned stop-fluted supports with chandelles, joined by a conforming undertier, on ring-turned tapering legs with capped feet, stamped to the reverse 'F SCHEY', with indistinct chalk inscription to the reverse and remains of a paper label inscribed in ink '..xth..'

Lot Essay

Fidelis Schey, maître in 1788.

Fidelys Schey worked from a shop in the rue Faubourg-Saint-Antoine in Paris with a saleroom adjacent, run by his wife. He mainly produced mahogany and mahogany-veneered furniture. In 1786 he delivered several pieces of furniture, including two tables à jeux, to the château de Fontainebleau.
