A Louis XVI white and black marble and ormolu large striking portico clock, late 18th century
The drum-shaped case surmounted by a flambeau urn and with ormolu oak leaf and acorn apron, flanked by quiver columns, on shaped inverted breakfront base inset with grape and vine cast ormolu mounts and raised on toupie feet, the white enamel Arabic dial signed Aubert Lné Paris, with pierced and engraved gilt-metal criss-cross hands, the twin barrel movement with rectangular plates with cut corners, signed Louis Ouvry Paris (?), with verge escapement and silk suspension and countwheel srike on bell -- 29½in. (75cm.) high
