Lot Essay

George Gordon, 4th Earl of Aberdeen(1784-1860), succeeded to earldom 1791. He was created Viscount Gordon of Aberdeen in the UK peerage in 1814 and invested Knight of the Thistle in 1808. He was Foreign Secretary 1828/30 and again 1841/46 and Tory Prime Minister 1852/55.
