Modelled by J.J. Kändler, with Thalia seated with her right arm raised holding a mask, wearing a gilt-edged pink bodice and yellow dress and draped in a turquoise robe, with a child dressed as Harlequin dancing at her left side in striped and chequered clothes, holding a pointed hat (restoration to her right arm and Harlequin's left hand, the mask a restored replacement, extended firing cracks and cracking to her dress and through her bodice and drape, chip to underside of base)

An apparently identical group, which could be the present lot, is illustrated by Len and Yvonne Adams, Meissen Portrait Figures, London, 1987, p. 82, where it is illustrated on an ormolu plinth base. This group represents Thalia, the Muse of comedy, and it could perhaps have been made as an element from a centrepiece.
