A mid 19th century Australian agricultural prize medal
awarded by Port Phillip Farmers Society, instituted 1848, to Messrs Morton Br. & Leach, 1856, as second prize for breeding cow, the reverse depicting animals and instruments signed Arnoldi, 5.0 cm. diam. Port Phillip is the bay on which Melbourne was built. The name was used for the adjoining area when it was part of New South Wales. It was later separated as the new state of Victoria in 1851.
