Signed Chikueido zo and sealed Eishin (Chikueido Eishin (1849-1915)), Meiji period (late 19th – early 20th century)
Finely worked in shakudo, shibuichi, silver, copper and gilt as Jurojin seated beside a crane and holding a fan, his robes inlaid with various auspicious symbols, tomobako inscribed Rogin sei iroe-zogan [made of rogin and various coloured inlays] and signed Chikueido Eishin zo and sealed Eishin

Chikujiro (Chikueido Eishin) came from a distinguished family of fine metalworkers producing menuki and other sword furniture. Chikujiro himself was best known for his intricately cast metal okimono which he produced for both the domestic market and for exhibition abroad.
