Arabic manuscript on vellum, with numerous lines of elegant sepia maghribi with words highlighted in pink and blue, gilt and polychrome verse roundels and two lines of elegant naskh in gold with Qur'anic citation, set within blue and red ruled gilt strapwork border, several signatures and date at end, minor area of restoration to right-hand margin

Lot Essay

This ijaza (certificate) was given to Abu Muhammad 'Abdullah 'Abd al-Wahid ibn al-Haj ibn 'Abi'l-'Abbas ibn al-Haj Abi'l-Hasan 'Ali ibn 'Ashir al-Andalusi by his teacher al-Shaykh l-Fagqi al-Ustad al-Maqqari al-Hafiz Abu'l-'Abbas Ahmad ibn al-Shaykh al-Ajall Abi 'Abdullah Muhammad ibn Makhluf Amghil al-Shafshawi. The tet gives chains of transmitters for the knowledge that the pupil has learnt from the teacher.
