Surmounted by a shaped white marble top, above a guilloche and patera frieze, the front with cupboard door, the interior fitted with two adjustable shelves, the lockplate inscribed L. GRADE & PELCOT, 23 rue de la Paix, Paris, with concave sides flanked to each side by flutted pilasters, on four toupie feet

Lot Essay

Louis Gradé established his shop 9 rue Castex, in 1852. He moved to 23 rue de la Paix in 1856, creating porcelain-mounted and Boulle-style furniture. He exhibited at the 1852, 1855 and 1867 Great Exhibitions. In 1866, the company's name changed to LOUIS GRADÉ & PELCOT.
