William Webley R.N. and thence by descent through the family.
Webley, by every account a dashing and adventurous seaman, first served on the frigate the Juno in 1793, later serving under Nelson on the Agamemnon. In 1801 he commanded the sloop Savage and a year later became a post-captain serving under Samuel Hood on the Centaur in the Baltic. As a result of action in the Centaur he was praised in the London Gazette and Naval Chronicle and decorated by the King of Sweden. On inheriting the Parry estate from a wealthy cousin, he took the name Webley-Parry. He died in 1837 and is buried in the churchyard at Llandygwydd, West Wales. An album of watercolours of his Naval career is in the care of the Maritime Museum at Newport News, Virgina.
