Each shown seated with front feet firmly planted on a painted, pierced rockwork base, glazed in blue, green, amber and cream with stripes on the chest and belly and splashes on the rest of the body, one with human face set in a scowl below tall horns and a flame-like flange, the large ears shaped and painted as those of an animal, the other with leonine face modelled in a roar below curved horns and a tapering flange, traces of black, red and pale blue-green pigment
