A PAIR OF CARVED RED LACQUER LOBED BALUSTER VASES
19TH CENTURY
Each vase is of quadrilobed oval section and raised on a tall spreading foot carved with four of the Eight Buddhist Emblems (bajixiang). The lobes of the tapering body are carved with panels of different figural scenes surrounded by foliate scroll repeated around panels of flowers on the waisted neck. There are decorative borders on the shoulder and above the foot.
