A PAIR OF CHINESE IMARI LARGE BALUSTER JARS AND COVERS
THE VASES FIRST QUARTER 18TH CENTURY, THE WALNUT STANDS 19TH CENTURY IN THE LOUIS XVI STYLE
Each densely painted and gilt with large branches of blossoming flowers including peony and chrysanthemum, between formal bands of pendant ruyi-shaped floral lappets above and stiff leaves below, the domed covers each surmounted with a seated Buddhist lion within a band decorated with a phoenix in flight above further dense flowers and foliage
The vases: 34 in. (86.3 cm.) high;
51½ in. (130.8 cm.) high, including stands (2)
