A PAIR OF DANISH MAHOGANY PEDESTAL CUPBOARDS
Early 19th Century
Each with stepped oval top above an egg-and-dart cornice, the plain frieze with rockwork C-scrolls and the door enclosing three adjustable shelves, on a moulded stepped plinth

Provenance
Acquired by Rasmus Nørregaared, a senior official in the Danish Admirality in 1831 following his marriage.
Thence by descent to the present owner.

Lot Essay

A corner cupboard with similar mouldings executed by the cabinet-maker Peter Nicolai Stadager of Odense is illustrated in A. Jepsen, Købstads snedkerne, Kolding, 1982, p. 97. A similar pair of pedestal cupboards, with marquetry decoration, was sold anonymously in these Rooms, 18 May 1995, lot 270.
