Attributed to Deharme
Each with rectangular tapering body with foliate decoration surmounted by a removable bust of Diana, the sides with scrolling foliage above a tapering square shaft and fruiting boss, the square plinth issuing a cylindrical branch decorated with a lyre and scrolling foliage above a glass well and with ratchet for shade, drilled for electricity, the shades lacking, one stamped twice 101 and the other 92

Lot Essay

These herm wall-lights are closely related to a design from the workshops of Deharme, now in the Bibliothèque Marmottan, Paris (N. de Reynies, Le Mobilier Domestique, Paris, 1987, vol. II, p. 731, fig. 2712).

Closely related pairs were sold anonymously at Sotheby's Monaco, 16 June 1990, lot 896 and 30 November 1986, lot 919, and in these Rooms, 14 December 1995, lot 252.
