Lot Essay

Two pairs of similar appliques with similar backplates were delivered by Antoine-André Ravrio for the petit salon at the Petit Trianon in 1805 (see J.-P. Samoyault, Pendules at bronzes d'ameublement entrés sous le Prèmire Empire, 1989, p.139, no.111).
