The Bergsten Collection of old master pictures, European furniture, sculpture and works of art was formed between circa 1900 and 1950 by Karl Bergsten (1869-1953), known as Consul General Bergsten, who furnished his Stockholm mansion in the manner of an 18th Century Grand Tourist connoisseur. The collection which Karl and Dagmar Bergsten assembled their works of art, and included a magnificent pair of mosaic top tables from Palazzo Borghese and a superb Louis XVI commode by Pierre Garnier, which were sold at Christie's, London, 23 June 1999, lots 50 and 100.
